I was not sure what to expect in “Geostorm” the new disaster film staring Gerald Butler .Usually modern disaster films are not well produced and written masterpieces like they were in the past in the 1970’s with “The Poseidon Adventure” of in the 1990’s with “Twister” so my expectations were not high. However like most of the viewing public I like a good surprise and with this film we were happily surprised.
The idea of using satellites to help divert natural disasters is a stroke of genius and timely with current recovery of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey still fresh on the minds of people .The acting was well done, the underlying tones of family and loyalty along with moral dilemma of questioning ones leaders make for a very well done film I give is 3 and 1/2 stars out of four .
If you are looking for an escape from the stress of reality and a break from the constant bombardments of bad news in the media we recommend you give Geostorm a try . It might just make your day .
Northfield, Ohio – The man, the myth, the legend ? Damn right he is .I am talking about the legendary rocker who took on the US Congress and won.Dee Snider, the voice of Twisted Sister played the Hard Rock Rocksino last night with his solo band and rocked the house.
Dee is supporting his new release ” We Are The Ones ” and he is combining his classic hits along with his new material at his live shows. In addition, Dee performed covers of Nine Inch Nails ” Head Like A Hole ” , Sound Garden” Outshined “,AC/DC ” Highway To Hell ”
One of his new songs ” So What ” is dedicated to the folks at Standing Rock , Dee was never one to shy away from politics and current events hence the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame featured him on their ” Louder The Words ” cultural display.
The classic tracks were performed and included ” Were Not Gonna Take It “, ” Burn In Hell ” and ” I Wanna Rock ” which had a standing ovation from the crowd .
Dee’s band did a great job with some very skilled musicians including Tanya O Callaghan on bass, Robbie Angelucci on guitar and Mike Dupke on drums .
If you go to see any 80’s rock icon in the coming year make sure you see Dee Snider , you will thank us.
Impractical Jokers is an American hidden camera-practical jokereality series that premiered on TruTV on December 15, 2011, and is produced by NorthSouth Productions. It follows Joseph “Joe” Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Salvatore “Sal” Vulcano, the four members of the comedy troupe The Tenderloins, as they coerce one another into doing public pranks while being filmed by hidden cameras. The show differs from other prank television programs as the stars of Impractical Jokers do not know the details of the prank until the moment they are performing it on strangers.
Phoenix, Arizona – Impressed is the one word that comes to mind when witnessing Doll Skin for the first time. There are not just girls with a pretty face this is a band with talent, drive , skill and originality and should not be underestimated .Never judge a book by its cover and with these ladies they may just smack you along side the head with the book if do judge them to fast.
Doll Skin is an all female rock band from Phoenix, Arizona. The band is made up Meghan Herring (drums/vocals), Sydney Dolezal (lead vocals/guitar), Nicole Rich (bass), and Alex Snowden (guitar). Their sound is a blend of punk, metal, alternative & pop. Doll Skin has been compared to bands ranging from The Donnas to The Go-Go’s and to The Runaways.
I recently saw them as direct support for One Eyed Doll on the current tour and they commanded the stage like a lioness commands her pride. All this from a band that are still teenagers As previously stated impressed is the one word that comes to mind .
DOLLSKIN is supporting MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL, the June 2017 follow up to their 2016 EMP Label Group debut, IN YOUR FACE (AGAIN), Produced by Grammy Award winning Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, which garnered massive Worldwide press, spawned multiple singles including, “Family of Strangers”, “Let’s Be Honest”, and “Furious Fixation”. 2016 saw the band tour much of the year with Otep, Lacey Sturm, Fire From The Gods, Hellyeah, Dead Kennedys, Escape The Fate, September Mourning, Through Fire, and more, capping off the year with a spot on Alternative Press’s list of “7 of the Best Rising Bands Under 21”, before settling in to record MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL.
Cleveland, Ohio – The iconic Cleveland Agora ( recently purchased by AEG Entertainment ) played host to one of the leaders of industrial music this weekend, the band Ministry. The leader and founder of the group Al Jourgensen commanded the stage like a general leading his troops .Uncle Al as he is affectingly called by his fans writes and performs songs based upon politics , current events and his life. The band debuted one of their newest songs at this show called ” ANTIFA ” which won the crowd over rather quickly.
The stage was adorned with two large inflatable chickens sporting orange hair and a bar symbol placed over a swastika and it eluded to the current state of our nation.I had the chance to speak with Uncle Al a few times but never had the opportunity to see them perform live so I was excited about this show .I can sum up the show in just four words ” Not To Be Missed ” This is a living legend still at his peak creatively and musically. The songs came in rapid fire succession such as ” Psalm 69″ ,Rio, Wargasim, and NWO ” just to name a few. ” Gates of Steel”was fan favorite as well .
The opening band was the Death Grips and you could almost feel the divide in the audience or at least it seemed to me . The tour is currently going on so check it out in a city near you . To keep up with all things Al and Ministry check out the official site at http://ministryband.com
Mentor On The Lake, Ohio- The newest addition to the Norths Coast’s music scene, Music Lynxx brought in one of the best acts I have seen in a long time ,The Nearly Deads .The Nashville based pop punk grunge alternative metal band is an unstoppable force of power groove and melody. To say I was impressed is a far understatement .The powerful vocal styling s with subtle influences of Liv Sinn and Dora Pesch and the groove of Seattle combined with the talent of the modern music scene makes this one band you must see.
The band consists of TJ” Theresa Jeane – vocals, keyboards,Steven Tobi – lead guitar,Kevin Koelsch – bass,Javier Garza Jr – rhythm guitar,Josh Perrone – drums.
I was not familiar with this band except they were on a co-headlining tour with Blame Shift ( more about them in a future article ) and not knowing a single song they were able to whip the audience in a musical frenzy.
The are in support of their current release Revenge of The Nearly Deads and I would definitely make this band on your list to check out
Stars gather from near and far to shake hands with the devil himself. From the legendary Steven Adler to up and coming Fashion-Art band Palaye Royale. The ragged yet sultry singing voice behind Johnny Faust happens to be none other than Remington Leith, lead singer of said band. A multitude of their songs are in the film including, heart-wrenching hit Ma Chérie ft. Kellin Quinn. Palaye Royale showed up looking like they stepped out of a different era.
Remington Leith, Emerson Barrett and Sebastian Danzig are making quite a ruckus in the music scene today. With their non-conforming style and inspiring minds, they have gave this generation something to strive for and society something to whine about. You can hear Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) whistling to the tune of Mr. Doctor Man, another sensational ditty by Palaye Royale. On their own Highway To Hell, these gents have accomplished so much in such a short time and for that they are sure to leave behind a mark for generations ahead.
Back in my parents day, they had great unstoppable bands like Mötley Crüe, Guns N’ Roses, KISS, The Who etc etc. Kids today don’t even know who they are… But bands like Palaye Royale are bringing back a major light to that whole scene and making their own scene, leaving “Soldiers Of The Royal Council” (the amazing family following they have gained) wanting more. If you haven’t already checked this band out DO YOUSELF A FAVOR AND CHECK THEM OUT! You won’t regret it, I promise.
Having released his latest full-length, Inverted Grasp of Balance, last year via Metal Blade Records, Monte Pittman is now launching a new video for the album track, “New Blood Keeps Us Alive” (by Travis Colbert: http://bit.ly/2iijkXC). To view the video, please visit: https://youtu.be/tU6RECXtUi8
Monte Pittman comments: “I discovered the Bravo Tip Or Pay app from performing for the Ultimate Jam Night at the Whisky A Go Go. I think it’s something that could change every musicians’ life. I’ve been selling tickets to my shows and selling merchandise at shows using their app. They’ve been coming with me on some shows and brought along Travis Colbert to film content. While in New York, I was sitting around playing my acoustic where we were staying and Travis started filming me. He said, ‘We could make a video’. Once I saw what he filmed, we immediately started filming the ‘New Blood Keeps Us Alive’ video since that’s the only track that has acoustic guitar on it. We have been filming for more videos coming out soon also.”
Catch Monte Pittman live across the USA this fall/winter – see below for upcoming dates! Oct. 21 – Los Angeles, CA – Hi Hat (Metal Assault showcase) Nov. 4 – Shreveport, LA – Strange Brew Dec. 1 – Dubuque, IA – The Lift Dec. 2 – Milwaukee, WI – Lucky Chance Dec. 9 – New York, NY – VYNL (Black Rose Room) Dec. 21 – Los Angeles, CA – Whisky A GoGo
There are great guitarists, great vocalists and great songwriters, but Monte Pittman is one of the elite few who can truly lay claim to all three titles. With his fourth full-length, Inverted Grasp of Balance, he has once again raised the stakes, delivering a riveting collection of full force metal that showcases his continuing evolution, undoubtedly expanding his devout – and ravenous – fan base. The record also features powerhouse drummer Richard Christy of Charred Walls Of The Damned/Iced Earth/Death fame and virtuoso bassist Billy Sheehan, famous for his work with a plethora of talented artists – including David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and, more recently, Winery Dogs. The skill of all concerned explodes from the speakers!
