Ralphie May , Our Memories of a Comic Genius

DSC01572 copy

Las Vegas, NV -Celebrities are people too, just like us they have fears they have success and they have failures and Ralphie May was one of the best .I worked with Ralphie for almost a full day and go to know him pretty well ( he gave me a free BBQ sauce as well after our spending the work shift together). What I saw was a real guy ,a man of the people who had weight issues, relationship issues, fears , hopes and dreams just like everyone  else and was the comedic genius to put it all up on stage in a funny way . Really funny actually . What I saw backstage was a guy who was nice to the workers and staff. Adored by police and stood for what is right and good about America.I also saw a man who waited 3 hours after his show to sign autographs and  pose with pictures with anyone that asked him for one . What you saw on stage was the person I saw behind the scenes and I am a better person for it . Ralphie we are going to miss you more then you could ever know , RIP brother…..

SOULFLY to Kick Off North American Tour Tomorrow , Performing NAILBOMB’s “Point Blank” Album in Full Each Night

Metal legend Max Cavalera created a massive buzz earlier this year after hinting about SOULFLY‘s North American Point Blank tour, and now the wait is over. SOULFLY will begin the highly-anticipated tour this Friday, October 6 in San Diego, CA. Each night on the tour, the iconic top-charting band – featuring Max Cavalera on vocals and guitar, Mike Leon on bass and backing vocals, renowned guitarist Marc Rizzo on leads, and Zyon Cavalera (also of support group Lody Kong) on drums and percussion – will perform Nailbomb‘s classic full-length album, Point Blank, in full.
Nailbomb was an industrial-influenced thrash metal project established by Max Cavalera and Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel in the early 1990’s. Point Blank is their only release, and features guest performances by Iggor Cavalera, Fear Factory‘s Dino Cazares, and others. The album has remained an underground favorite of heavy metal fans since its release, and as expected, the original announcement of this tour stirred up a frenzy. These performances will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all – don’t miss this tour!
Tickets can be purchased via individual venues. Support on the tour will feature Cannabis Corpse (October 6 – 24), Harms Way (October 28 – Nov. 8), Noisem and Lody Kong (which, as stated above, features Zyon Cavalera in addition to Igor Cavalera Jr.). See below for a full listing of tour dates:

The Pixies Ecstasize Cleveland Agora

Legendary grunge and alt rock band, The Pixies, performed at the Cleveland Agora October 3rd for their North American Tour to promote their new album “Head Carrier”. They played to a near capacity crowd, with hundreds of fans dancing and screaming every word to their favorite songs, maybe even reliving the more carefree days of the 90’s grunge culture. Fans of all ages were there, from surrounding states even, to see them play their strange rock and roll.

The Pixies set list spanned over two decades of their discography. They opened with “Waves of Mutilation“, a track off their 1989 album Doolittle, for which they also played the songs “Hey” and “Debaser”. Their lighting crew was impeccable, green lights for “Gouge Away” just like a show they played in 1990. Flooding violet lights for “Velouria”, which totally matched the mood. The Pixies obviously love their fans as they also played one of their most popular songs, “Where is my Mind”, which was also featured in the cult classic, “Fight Club”. As soon as they played that song, the crowd instantly electrified.

Opening for The Pixies was the American rock band Sunflower Bean from Brooklyn NYC. They had a pretty great, weird punk rock sound to them. Like an indie futuristic Blondie.

Being the Pixies fan that I am, I can probably say this is one of the best concerts of any band I’ve ever seen. What a great experience it is to see the great, creative, and soulful minds behind the music you listen to everyday.
