One of the best female fronted bands on the planet !

Cleveland, Ohio – The historic and newly reopened  Cleveland Masonic Hall played host to a who’s who of female fronted bands   earlier this week . Halestorm, In This Moment and New Years Day filled the venue to capacity. The weather may have brought snow and frigid temperatures but the feeling inside was hot and electric and you could  sense it in the air .

New Years Day are no overnight success story . I have  seen them several times in the last decade or so. The first time was as one of the opening bands on Warped Tour but I knew the moment I saw how they handled the crowd, much bigger things were on the horizon for this young band. Like any band they go thru their changes both  in musical style and personal . One thing for sure is that this is the best line up I have ever seen .

The singer Ashley Costello commands the stage like a general over looking her troops and the duel guitars act as machine guns piercing the landscape with sonic terror.   The drums and bass  act like giant tanks shaking the earth. This was metal at its best .

The band paged homage to the past with a great version of ” F*cking Hostile ” from Pantera along with their own tracks which included ” Kill Or Be Killed “Epidemic and a few others . Most notably they played the song ” Skeletons”  from their upcoming release .

This is a band to watch because when they start headlining arenas you can say I saw them back when . As a side note I said the same thing about Metallica and Nirvana so I an tell when a band is going to break .

The members include

    • Ash Costello – vocals (2005–present)
    • Nikki Misery – guitar (2011-present)

  • Frankie Sil – bass (2016–present)
  • Brian Sumwalt – drums (2018-present)

Five Reasons To Go To The Ladies 80’s Night Featuring Tiffany !

A night of fun to be had by all !

Cleveland, Ohio – The Ladies 80’s Night featuring Tiffany  is coming to Cleveland Dec 22nd and in celebration of it we decided the five reasons you must attend that night .

Ladies 80x 1024x683

1-  Stress Free Night

This is a night  of without dealing with the kids , bills , mortgage payments , work deadlines and all the stresses of being an adult in 2018 and all the responsibilities that come with it .

2-Nostilgia

Who would not want to relive the sight and sounds and atmosphere of the times when we grew up , the 80s were a fun generation of parachute pants , hanging out at the mall , watching music vidoes on MTV when they still played music. You share a  unique time and memories  with the other fans and see you own generation , the best generation. If not the best we were definitely the funniest .

3-The Music

The 80’s were a great time of female ladies leading the bands .Artists such as Tiffany , Debbie Gibson, Nena, The Go Go’s ,and the Bangles just to name a few, not to mention Miss M herself Madonna .Martika makes the list and well as many others .

4-The Venue

Conveniently located in the heart of the entertainment district but intimate enought for a great night but but enough to support the artist . Cleveland’s, House of Blues is a venue like no other .

5- Tiffany

She may be last on out list but she reigns on top of our hearts Tiffany who a forced to be  withheld, singer and artist , actress and parent . She has lived the good and bad in life and her voice carries that emotion and has emerged as a strong woman , one that we hold in high regard .

The date is Dec 22nd at Cleveland’s House of Blues and we highly recommend you get get a ticket to it . See you there !

Live Review- 98 Degrees at Christmas

A night of fun , nostalgia and holiday spirit !

Northfield Park , Ohio -The holiday season is upon us and with that crowds and short tempers .The day was Black Friday  and although the craziness of the store specials were in fact still going on in the malls,  this particular crowd was one of the happiest I have ever seen at a show . The night was a evening of reliving the past of your youth , with the carefree feeling of living in the moment without the stresses of modern society and life .

I have never seen the band 98 Degrees and honestly was not a fan of the genre however it was a really fun show and the musicianship and talent cannot be denied . The bands  songs were fun , light and thoughtful ,The holiday songs were classics with a fun modern twist to them , even including the audience as part of the show .

The history of the band from Wikipedia

98 Degrees (stylized as 98°) is an American pop and contemporary R&B vocal group consisting of four vocalists: brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons. The group was formed by Timmons in Los Angeles, California, although all of its members originate from Ohio.

Unlike most boy bands, they formed independently and were later picked up by a record label, rather than being assembled by a label or a producer. They have sold over 10 million records worldwide and achieved eight top 40 singles in the U.S.[1][2]

The night started as a best of as Alan and his band played some of their most well known and loved songs.A total of 24 songs culminating forty years of music delighted fans both near and far as I met people that drove almost five hours to see this performance. The second half of the show was the 40th anniversary of the ” I Robot ” played in its entirety  .

Live Review -Jinjer Live At The Agora

Cleveland, Ohio- The legendary Agora Ballroom hosted Halloween this year  to delight of the packed crowd . A favorite holiday among metal fans we had a special treat this year in the form of Jinjer .

Jinjer live on stage
Jinjer live on stage

Jinjer is metal band from the Ukraine formed in 2009.They have won best metal band in their home country twice in 2013 and 2016.I heard great things about this band so I was excited to see them .

Jinjer live on stage

The band hit the stage with a fury all while wearing unique costumes. The singer Tatiana Shmailyuk went as Amy Winehouse   , the guitarist as a pimp and so on . The music was quick and furious with Tatiana  commanding the stage like a general over looking her troops. One of the songs played was the popular ” I Speak Astronomy ”   along with a mix of old and new including ” Dreadful Moments ” and ” Sit ,Stay, Roll Over ”

I have always been a fan of strong female vocals along the lines of Sister Sin and be warned Jinjer  will be making its way to the top . This is a force to be reckoned with ! The current line up of the band is

  • Tatiana Shmailyuk — vocals (2010–present)
  • Roman Ibramkhalilov — guitars (2010–present)
  • Eugene Abdiukhanov — bass (2011–present)
  • Vladislav Ulasevich — drums (2016–present)

Make sure you check them out , they are why we love metal !
