Live Review- Neal Morse Band Thrills Crowd at Sold Out Show !

Cleveland, Ohio – I was walking up to the venue this last Saturday  for the show and for some reason the crowd was outside , not just outside but down the street and  past a few other buildings .I am thinking to myself what is going on here I have covered many shows at the Beachland Ballroom and I have never seen a crowd like this . I inquire to some of the others in line what is going on and they say simply two words ” Neal Morse”  My curiosity got peaked as I have never seen them before and I asked , have you been to many shows and  almost in unison they uttered ” are you kidding ? ” and that was lesson I soon learned .

I had about an hour wait in line to learn why people traveled far and wide to see them and why, and what I learned was simple . You don’t need constant radio airplay to have legions of rabid fans . What you need is good songwriting , excellent musicianship and memorable songs and guess what the Neal Morse Band has it in spades .

The show opened with a dark and mysterious lighting and sounds , almost like a Broadway musical and soon burst into a night of theatrics , musicianship and an very appreciative crowd .

I asked fan ” Sue”  and her husband what they favorite songs that night were and they stated  ” A Momentary Change “, ” Freedom Calling “, ” Vanity Fair ” and ” A Love That Never Dies “.I have to concur with them .

Live Review – Crowbar Bring The Metal To Cleveland Crowd !

Cleveland, Ohio – The legendary doom/ sludge metal legends Crowbar made a stop in Cleveland last night at the infamous Beachland Ballroom to the delight of many .The weather could not keeps the crowds away as the venue was at near capacity with a strong line up filled the club.

Formed in 1990  , Crowbar has proved thru time and pure stamina why they are one of the most respected and loved bands from the 1990’s .I had a chance to to interview founder and singer/ guitar player Kirk Windstein a few years ago when I was on radio and I admitted that I never had the chance to see them live and last night I made up for it in droves .

The band hit the stage with a sound and fury of a tornado and with just about as much force . The crowd was mixed with both young and old alike including parents with grown children. The mosh pit was exceptionally brutal  as I saw women in the crowd being crushed. I wish security ould have stepped in , I am still sore from people hitting me and I was over  ten  feet away from the moshers.

The band was in top form playing some of the crowd favorites including

  1. All I Had (I Gave)
  2. …And Suffer as One
  3. To Build A Mountain
  4. Cemetery Angels
  5. Walk With Knowledge Wisely
  6. To Carry the Load
  7. Planets Collide
  8. Like Broken Glass

The current   members of crowbar are

Kirk Windstein – vocals, rhythm guitar (1990–present)
Tommy Buckley – drums (2004–present)
Matt Brunson – lead guitar (2009–present)
Todd Strange – bass (1990–2000, 2016–present; retired from touring since 2018)

To sum up the night I really think that if a legend such as Crowbar come to your city , you need to get out there and support metal . Because one day when your old you don’t want to be sitting in that rocking chair and say I should have saw that band when I had the chance .

The talent behind the band TWIZTID originated the idea and gave back to the community that supported them by putting on their own pop culture convention . The fans came out in droves and had a great time . There was a wedding and a pop culture game show put on by Loose Cannons Entertainment called Fandom Madness that had a celebrity version .The big winners were Ming Chen and Mike Zapzic of Comic Book Men TV Show fame. I guessed they would have won for once I was right .Hidden in plain site was Ricky Rat the bass player for famed punk band ” The Dead Boys “.
