Columbus, Ohio- The approximate 22,000 plus athletes that attended the 31st annual Arnold Sports Festival proved one fact , sports is universally loved and embraced by athletes of all ages and sexes. The old adage of ” You throw a ball like a girl ” is not considered an insult but a compliment because these girls were some of the toughest competitors I have ever met.
I met a family that competes in Baton and yes it is a real sport .It requires the ability of dance ,martial arts, gymnastics and ballet. With ages ranging in elementary school to collage there is room for all to enjoy this sport.
In recent years , pole dancing has left the clubs and exploding into the sports arena . A great use as a stress release and stamina builder this is one sport that is gaining world wide attention .
Fitness has long been a staple at the Arnold , and doing back flips, dance moves , push ups and handstands prove it requires dedication and plenty of hard work .
Professional athletes were on hand including Miss Kelly Klein a professional wrestler with the sports entertainment show ” Ring of Honor ” proving that hard work does pay off .
Team sports were on hand as well with dance teams being represented from across the country with judging from the prestigious US Spirit Cheer and Dance Organization .
