The night was filled with power chords and earplugs was the latest fashion statement and with no place to park, the metal community came out to support one of their own . The Metal On Metal radio show hosted by the one and only Bill Peters is one of the true supporters of original music and many bands have been played by him on 88.7 WJCU in the last 35 years . The radio station had a fundraiser over the weekend and the community came out in droves gladly donating a door cover charge in exchange for a night of comradely and music . The headliner on the bill will the Dio tribute band Live Evil which was a powerhouse to be reckoned with .
The recently reunited doom metal band Threefold Law returned to the stage in full force to show Cleveland ” Doom Done Right ”
In the down and dirty department the Vulgar Devils showed what real rock and roll is like and their predilection for backstage Betty’s with beards ! ( Inside Joke )
Opening the night was the vocal powerhouse of Hell and Back and damn I really hope to see them again , what amazing vocals this band has I expect this band to go far !
The best part of the evening however was seeing people give freely of themselves for something for the greater good . Over $ 1000.00 was reported to be donated to the event and the host Bill Peters stated the event was a success . Until next time keep your ears to the speakers and rock on !

One of the most striking hard rock bands of the 1970’s was undoubtedly ANGEL – who sported costumes and a highly theatrical stage show only rivaled by KISS (their then-label mates on Casablanca Records). Despite ANGEL splitting in 1981, the group’s popularity and influence remain high – resulting in the return last year of their larger-then-life guitarist, Punky Meadows, with his first-ever solo release, ‘FALLEN ANGEL,’ and a striking video clip for the rocking track, “Straight Shooter”: https://youtu.be/pZVp6Y_k2CU
“I’m very proud of this song and album,” says Punky. “Every song kicks ass and is a winner. Danny Farrow and I have a great song writing chemistry so it’s hard to to pick a favorite song because they’re all good. ‘Straight Shooter’ was our first single and video. This band is killer with all talented players and a killer singer.”
And in March and April, Punky will be performing in the US. From March 8th-10th, dates have been announced for Las Vegas, San Diego, and Los Angeles, followed by Poughkeepsie on April 21st and NYC on April 29th. Joining the guitarist on stage will be a band comprised of Chandler Mogel – lead vocals, Danny Farrow – rhythm guitar, vocals, Charlie Calv – keyboards, and Bob Pantella – drums, while it will be decided closer to the dates if bass will be supplied by Felix Robinson (due to recent surgery).
ANGEL was a headline act in the US, and was featured performing live in the 1980 cult classic film, ‘FOXES’ (starring a then-teenage Jodie Foster, Cherie Currie, and Scott Baio), they were also one of the biggest rock bands of the 1970’s in Japan. The group released six studio albums on Casablanca Records before disbanding in 1981, due to the demise of the label. During his career, Punky had been considered to join such well-known artists such as KISS, AEROSMITH, and the NEW YORK DOLLS.
Upon the band’s disbanding, Punky occupied himself with a number of successful business ventures while continuing to play guitar and write songs. Through social media, fans let him know they missed him and wanted to hear new music. With renewed passion for recording music, and inspiration from close friend and fellow musician, Danny Farrow Anniello, they crafted 15 new songs together for ‘FALLEN ANGEL,’ which charted on Billboard at #6 on the Heatseekers Chart and #32 on the Independent Album Chart.
Also available is a special autographed edition of PUNKY MEADOW’S ‘Fallen Angel’ that includes a PUNKY MEADOWS GUITAR PICK, and two bonus tracks (one featuring original ANGEL vocalist FRANK DIMINO), exclusively on the www.mainmanrecords.com website. Otherwise, the regular 15 song edition is available everywhere else, including iTunes, Amazon, and all other music outlets.
Also available are a limited amount of meet and greets for each show. The meet and greet includes a personal photo with Punky and the band (with personal cell or camera) up to 3 autographed Punky or Angel items, and a free 8×10 to have autographed as well. Here are the links to the meet and greets (all but the BB KING meet and greet, which is on their website at checkout): punkymeadows.weebly.com/tour-dates.html
And soon, fans will get an opportunity to experience Punky and his band live on stage. “Can’t wait to get on the road and play for all the fans again. We’re coming to a town near you and we’re going to tear the place up!! It’s going to be one bad ass party, so don’t miss it and let’s rock!!
March 8th – Backstage Bar and Billiards (Las Vegas)
March 9th – Brick By Brick (San Diego)
March 10th – Whisky (Los Angeles)
April 21st – The Chance (Poughkeepsie)
April 29th – BB Kings (New York City)

STYX bringing over four decades of Classic Rock hits to Stambaugh Auditorium!!!
On Thursday, May 11th at 7:30pm, Stambaugh Auditorium and Sunrise Entertainment will welcome classic rock icons STYX to Youngstown. Styx is entering their second decade of averaging over 100 shows per year. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 10th at 10am through the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Styx draws from over four decades of barn burning chart hits, joyous sing-a-longs, and hard-driving deep cuts. Like a symphony that builds to a satisfying crescendo, a Styx set covers a wide range of stylistic cornerstones. Some of their biggest hits include: “Fooling Yourself,” “Lorelei,” “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Boat on the River,” “The Grand Illusion,” “Blue Collar Man,” “Lady,” “Miss America,” “Man in the Wilderness,” “Crystal Ball,” “Come Sail Away,” and “Renegade.”
Guitarist and vocalist Tommy Shaw notes, “Our live show is like a religious experience where people come to commune and testify. We have a pretty sophisticated audience, and we really respect that. We didn’t used to have people who would come see every show, but now they’re coming back again and again for more. And we owe it to our fans to continually rehearse, prepare, and improve.”
James (JY) Young says, “Music is this amazing force that comes from a higher place. I’m humbled for this band to have the great success that it has, and I recognize what we have could go away in an instant.” “We just want to keep on doing this,” adds Shaw. “We want to let life take its course and let this music continue to be the soundtrack to it.”
Tickets for this show go on sale Friday, February 10th at 10am. For tickets, call 330-259-0555, go to stambaughauditorium.com, or visit the Florence and Ward Beecher Box Office at Stambaugh Auditorium in person. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm and Saturday, 10am-2pm.
The recently opened Pub 91 in Willoughby Hills hosted an evening of metal music last night to heat up the fans amidst the frozen landscape of North East Ohio . I have recently rediscovered my love for Judas Priest with the release of ” Turbo 30 ” this past week and the ability to hear those songs played live was an opportunity not to be missed . A slight departure from the traditional tribute band this was fronted from non other then a female lead singer and if you want in on a little secret , it worked ! It worked so well I think we will see great things from this band in the near future . I have changed my stance on tribute bands over the past few years , I used to hate them but I now see the point . The band you love is either not on tour , doesn’t have a venue close to you or the tickets of so high priced that you need a second mortgage to get into the first 30 rows .The best answer to this conundrum is to check out a tribute act and now you can enjoy the music and relive the past without killing you bank account.
The band played well into an hour with all the hits and classics covered followed by another band on the bill, the Ozzy /Black Sabbath tribute act Sabbotozz. The Sentinel are Rokken Robyn Halford-vocals ,Doug Schroeder-guitar,Mike Swart-guitar
Greg Campbell-drums,Tim Warren-bass to learn more about any upcoming shows please check out their official facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TheSentinelCleveland
This is one re-release I have truly hoped for. This was the album that introduced me to Judas Priest ( yes I was late coming on board but I was only 14 at the time) and my older brother was a huge fan already .Lets get a little back story here, every kid brother wanted to emulate his older brother and that included music so when my brother brought home ” Turbo “back in 1986 I was hooked , the look, the sound the anthems , what teenager could not be affected . Well I am happy to say I have been a Judas Priest fan since and was finally able to see them a few times as an adult during The Angel of Retribution tour and the Chosen Ones tour.Besides my friend Tim ‘Ripper ” Owens briefly being in the band for a while so I have always felt a connection to the band .Now on to the review of this three disk release.
The sound quality of the remastered Turbo studio release is without parallel as the bass , drums , guitars and keyboards weave a deep coil into your auditory senses with the first deep notes of record . The entire album is very well done with not any filler material. My favorites being Turbo Lover , Parental Guidance, Private Property and Rock You All Around The World. The remained two disks contain a full concert from Kemper Arena in Kansas City with all the classic Judas Priest back catalog .The only complaint I have is not having a live version of Parental Guidance but as powerful as Rob Halford is he is not a timelord and cannot use the Tardis to travel back in time to add a song to the set-list that was not there . You get 29 songs in this release and more then enough nostalgia to get to put your horns in the air . I have to get this release 5 out of 5 stars as its nearly flawless . The liner notes talk about the band members at the time ( with many changes since then ) and the story behind the original thought process as the time . The band consisted of Rob Halford on vocals , Glenn Tipton-guitars,KK Downing-Guitars ,Ian Hill -bass and Dave Holland on Drums .
The release comes out February 3, 2017 on Legacy Recordings and for further information please check out http://judaspriest.com
